Hmm, very good to know about SmugMug, I think I'll have to pass that along and explore it. How much does the professional classification cost?
Yes, this "professional" woman clearly didn't have a clue. I think she was a horse person, she just clearly had no idea about how to opperate a camera. Proves that anybody can make a buck!!
There is another girl that comes to some of our clinics that offers photography, she basically charges 80.00 an hour or so, and then does a complete camera DUMP onto a stick drive and hands you the photos. The photos are aweful, with toes or ear (or helmets) missing, power lines right through the middle of the image, horses in odd positions that just don't look right, "fancy" eye shots that look like crap. She does not understand composition or balance in a photo, and what does it matter, I don't know if she even LOOKS at them before handing them over... To me thats aweful. But then I have more pride in my work than that!
Ahh, dillusioned people, what fun!! Thanks for the suggestions!
I can't recall the price for a pro account at SM off the top of my head, but I know their website will tell ya. I'd check it, but am at work and it's blocked. :PPP
you should get your husband to check out dgrin, their forums. dgrin.com - there's really good topics in the 'Mind Your Business' one about pricing and running your photography as a business, etc etc.
the snap and dump photographer you mentioned is actually talked about in a wedding topic, as apparently those types are popular (cause cheaper) but provide such an inferior product :S there's some folks who LIKE to see everything, good or bad, but bad photos are just ... geh. I post almost all the photos I take, but that's also because after 1000+ in a day, I simply haven't the time to edit out the bad moments. I should, I know, and I would if this were my full time job, but it's not. It's a side business for now.
any how, I'm 'catspaw' in dgrin although I don't post too much you'll see some topics I've started or what not. (and anyone can read/join the forums, SM customers or not!)
