The Start of this tale

How do I start?

Two years ago I lost the love of my life?

I'm writing this in pieces, not in order although I'll link them together later. But the start is proving to be the most difficult part. This . . .

This is a tale of an amazing, strong, brave, athletic, studly, gorgeous, talented, smart, and lovable horse known as 'Ally'.

This tale is of his death. I firmly believe a sudden death, even violent, is preferred to what he ended up going through in the end. Easier for him, easier for me (perhaps). But mostly for him, because he deserved better than the early end he received.

January 3rd 2007, Ally was humanely put to sleep. That he hadn't died on his own was a daily miracle to me and the entire vet staff. That day he became my angel and remains so forever. But that final day is not where to start. Where to start is ... at the beginning.

Wow, two years already. It doesn't seem like that long ago that you were posting entries about him!

I didn't know you when you lost Ally, but I am familiar with his story. I am so sorry for everything you had to go through with him. You've got me crying already. *hugs*

I didn't know you when you had Ally, but I remember seeing pics of him, and then your post when you lost him. I'm very interested to hear the rest of the story:) *hugs*

it seems stupid, but if he'd been an ugly horse that I hadn't bonded well with .... this wouldn't have been so bloody difficult for me. :S he HAD to be gorgeous and I had to be in love with him.

I'll write more about 'our' begining when I get to the 'happy memories' post :)

*Hugs* he was such a special guy. He touched so many hearts. Even Brian fondly remembers him as "the neatest horse" because he would poop in one corner and nuzzle him in the back when he cleaned his stall. His movement is forever going to be what I think of when I imagine "big" and "lofty" and "powerful". Not sure what else to say. January is not a good time for grief. I put Maple down last year around this time too and it has been bugging me a lot lately when I thought I was fine. Sigh.
