As much as my mare and I despise each other if you can get on the right side of a mare you're good to go. :)

I'm so NOT a mare person, but birthing out Denali and having the raising and training of her ... we've definitely created that hard-to-create bond that is esecially tricky with mares. I'm glad I have it though :)
